Shipping cars cross-country in Canada? I found a cheap old Volvo but it's near Vancouver and I live just north of Toronto. I need to find some cheap-ish way to get it over here. any help would be appreciated.

I shipped a snowmobile once with Manitoulin, it was pretty easy, but obviously shipping a car is an entirely different process.
Check out any freight company that offers rail and/or intermodal transport, and start making calls. Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

you would be looking at at least $1500.00 if not more. shipping by train will be the cheapest.

Not sure about Canadaland, but in the US of A the cheapest way to ship a car cross-country is by auto-carrier truck.
My roommate shipped his Volvo from Boston to Phoenix (about 160 km's shorter than Vancouver to Toronto) for like $600-800.
A little googling ("cost to ship a car across Canada") turned up a couple forum posts with similar questions.

Hansens (some company that ships via rail) charged one poster $1,000 (assuming your silly plastic monopoly money) to ship his BMW X3 from Toronto to Calgary. He mentioned cars were slightly cheaper.
